Love the new website! We adopted not one but two wonderful dogs from Safehaven. It is a friendly homelike rescue where the dogs can learn how to be a dog! I can't wait to come visit this summer!
I adopted my beautiful pekingese Camille in 2009. I was so lucky they let me have this little girl who is my everything.
I live in NH & read that you do a home visit? Also that I'd need to spend time with the dogs. How could this be handled? If that wouldn't work out, are there similar shelters in the NH or ME area that I could adopt dogs from similar situations. I really want to help a dog that needs the most help, and I'm always home to provide the security they need.
Barbara, it's best to email them or call them if you see a dog you're interested in and would have to drive there to pickup. That is what I did for my precious Camille. It was about a 5.5 drive. I took pictures of my home.
forgot to mention, sometimes they have volunteers that can do home check if you are far away, they find someone nearby that can do it.. (that is what other rescue groups do sometimes) check with them.
You continue provide such a wonderful service for all breeds and take them from a life of despair into a fantastic world of love and kindness! Thank you so much! Our little Suzy Q has been a special blessing to us and we are so glad we found her through your agency. Thanks again!
We were so happy to find you. I had been looking for a rescue angel for about six months and all of a sudden three people told us about Safehaven. As soon as we saw all the happy, relaxed dogs there, after knowing what they had been through before, we knew we wanted to adopt from you. I can't wait to pick our little girl up! She is so beautiful and I know she has had a good second start in life. You are very special people and I love you for what you are making your life's work, saving these little angels. Thank you so much! Susan
Just an update on Marcy. She is doing great! Now follows me upstairs when I get ready for work in the morning and at night, also comes running when I call for dinner or her morning yogurt. AND lets me pick her up and hold her without squirming. She has a new buddy, Lil Bit, a chihuahua/doxie--they are adjusting to each other, but it looks like it will work out. Marcy says hi, and THANK YOU for everything you have done for me.
Hello there, I found your site by the use of Google even as searching for a similar matter, your site came up, it seems to be great. I have bookmarked it in my google bookmarks.
Your way of explaining everything in this article is actually fastidious, all can simply be aware of it, Thanks a lot
I want some new posts from you!
I was pretty pleased to uncover this site. I want to to thank you for ones time for this particularly wonderful read!! I definitely appreciated every bit of it and I have you bookmarked to look at new stuff in your site.

I am a seventh grader. My group and I are doing some research on this organization. Could someone please give me some more information?
Jan. 2017 - I fell in love with my Yorkie from a picture on the internet. After the application, etc. my granddaughter and I made the 2.5 hr. trip (with pictures of our home) to "see". I fell in love with Teri and Clint, as well as Ivey Leigh. My granddaughter was also impressed with them and the many little dogs. I had put down my 15 yr old Maltese just weeks before. I didn't want another Maltese but needed another little dog to fill my empty spot. Ivey Leigh does that so well. She has none of the bad behaviors puppies or un- trained dogs have - chewing, barking, biting, etc. She is happy to be beside me at all times. I love to watch her with her cute little tail. We have had her since June 2016 and she has learned to come, sit, go up and down stairs, hop up on the couch beside me, She now knows what a treat is and is slowly learning about toys. She now lets people hold her (if I am near) and loves to be praised, praised, and praised. She at first seemed to think it was some sort of reprimand. Our only problem is her housetraining. She gets it right at night by going in her box that is with her bed in a playpen. Usually she has one accident a day in the kitchen; but, she is trying. I thank God for her and also for Teri and Clint and their dedication. I refer them to folks all the time. My husband and I are retired and what a wonderful thing to have Ivey. My vet gave us some med so now she can ride with us without getting car-sick, too.
What a wonderful place for mill dogs to learn how to trust and be safe. I love small older dogs, I believe in adoption, have two rescues and love them. I especially want to help mill survivors I know they have scars. Thank you for the good work God Bless!
